The Family
Our family has been making wine for three generations. At the end of the 1950s Ratzenberger Winery was founded with an area of around two hectares (five acres). With the vineyards now spread out over 20 hectares (ca. 50 acres), the family still is and always has been at the heart of our business. Jochen Ratzenberger now runs the wine estate set up by his grandfather Hans all those years ago. Jochen carries on the family tradition with great passion. His top priority is to treat the heritage Mother Nature has bequeathed to us vintners with the utmost care. The upkeep of the cultural landscape of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the many issues close to our family’s heart. Three generations at the winery are now dedicated to this task.
